September 24 – 30, 2021 is Climate Preparedness Week. The Library will offer programs focused on sustainability and preparation for climate change. The Massachusetts Library System has been partnering with Communities Responding to Extreme Weather (CREW) for several years, offering and promoting programs during Climate Preparedness Week. The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library Annual Book Sale will take place on Satruday, September 11, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the Main Library front lawn. The proceeds from the Book Sales fund the Library's Children's programming, large print and audio-visual collections, eBooks, museum passes, Friends author talk, film, poetry and music series, and more. Covid-19 safety note: While the Book Sale is an outdoor event, if you are not fully vaccinated we ask that you please wear a face mask at the event. Please remember to give each other space. Thank you for your cooperation.

Join author and mountaineer Jim Davidson for a discussion of his new book The Next Everest on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on the Library's Facebook Live. Jim Davidson grew up in Concord, MA and later set off seeking adventure around the world. After 39 years of high-altitude climbing, he has scaled peaks on six continents, including having reached the summit of Mount Everest. The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library presented an online piano recital with Tanya Bartevyan on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a discussion on Zoom. The program included selections from Chopin Waltzes and Etudes, Schubert Impromptus, and an improvisation on an Armenian song created in the moment. This program was supported in part by a grant from the Concord Local Cultural Council.
