2022 Ruth Ratner Miller Award for Excellence in American History

The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library will present the 2022 Ruth Ratner Miller Award to Sean Wilentz on Saturday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Goodwin Forum of the Main Library. The event will kick off this year's Concord Festival of Authors (October 13 - 31). Sean Wilentz is the George Henry Davis 1886 Professor of American History at Princeton University. His primary research interests include U.S. social and political history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Tickets for the in-person event are $15 ($5 for students). They can be purchased (cash or check only) at the Barrow Bookstore or (using cash, check or PayPal) at the Main Library's Circulation Desk. The event can also be watched live on Zoom free of charge. Climate Preparedness Week 2022: The Planet’s Health and Yours

The duo will be joined by Hazel Royer (bass/voice) and Max Petersen (banjo). Sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library in partnership with Concord Conservatory of Music. Dedication of the Goodwin Forum With An Address By Doris Kearns Goodwin

The Trustees of the Concord Free Public Library Corporation are proud to officially dedicate the new Goodwin Forum with very special guest Doris Kearns Goodwin. The Goodwin Forum, named in honor of Doris Kearns Goodwin and Richard Goodwin, is a multi-use programming space that will foster civic engagement, historical scholarship, intellectual growth, and a love of learning. Story Hour with Author of Runaway: The Daring Escape of Ona Judge

In honor of Juneteenth Day, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. in our Children's Library, come meet acclaimed children's author and historian Ray Anthony Shepard who will read from his newest book Runaway - The Daring Escape of Ona Judge, a picture book biography of Ona Judge, a young enslaved woman who escaped the family of George Washington. Ray Anthony Shepard is a grandson of a slave, a former history teacher, and retired editor- in-chief of a major education publishing company. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
