2022 Ruth Ratner Miller Award for Excellence in American History

The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library will present the 2022 Ruth Ratner Miller Award to Sean Wilentz on Saturday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Goodwin Forum of the Main Library. The event will kick off this year's Concord Festival of Authors (October 13 - 31). Sean Wilentz is the George Henry Davis 1886 Professor of American History at Princeton University. His primary research interests include U.S. social and political history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Tickets for the in-person event are $15 ($5 for students). They can be purchased (cash or check only) at the Barrow Bookstore or (using cash, check or PayPal) at the Main Library's Circulation Desk. The event can also be watched live on Zoom free of charge. In honor of Juneteenth Day, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. in our Children's Library, come meet acclaimed children's author and historian Ray Anthony Shepard  who will read from his newest book Runaway - The Daring Escape of Ona Judge, a picture book biography of Ona Judge, a young enslaved woman who escaped the family of George Washington.
