2021 Ruth Ratner Miller Award for Excellence in American History
The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library will present the 2021 Ruth Ratner Miller Award to Heather Cox Richardson on Saturday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. The event will kick off this year's Concord Festival of Authors (October 15 - 31). Heather Cox Richardson teaches nineteenth-century American History at Boston College. Her early work focused on the transformation of political ideology from the Civil War to the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt through the lens of race, economics, westward expansion, and the construction of the concept of an American middle class. Her latest book, How the South Won the Civil War, was named one of The Washington Post's 50 Notable Works of Nonfiction.
