The Concord Free Public Library is now a member of the Sustainable Libraries Initiative (SLI) and their Certification Program! Their July 2022 Newsletter highlighted the Concord Free Public Library Corporation's Sustainability Plan 2021-2025. The Concord Free Public Library Corporation envisions the Library as a model of sustainability and climate action. The Plan outlines the necessary steps for assessing, planning, and implementing a series of collaborative actions across operations and programming between 2021 and 2026 and establishes the aspirational goal of carbon neutrality by 2030.  [View the Plan]

It's Halloween! Party & Sneak Peek of the New Children's Library will take place on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the Main Library's new addition. Join us for a festive Halloween celebration! Wear a costume. Get a sneak peek at the new Children’s Library, Children's Garden and more. There will be spooky stories, crafts, cookies and a pumpkin decorating contest. All ages are welcome.

The annual Leslie Riedel Memorial Lecture for Young People will present children's author Robert Sabuda on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. The lecture series was created in memory of Leslie Riedel by her family and friends so that young people could meet some of their favorite authors. Past speakers of the series include children's authors/illustrators David Macaulay, Chris Van Allsburg, Jerry Pinkney, Lois Lowry, Tomie dePaola, Grace Lin, Katherine Paterson and Kate DiCamillo. The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library will present the 2021 Ruth Ratner Miller Award to Heather Cox Richardson on Saturday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. The event will kick off this year's Concord Festival of Authors (October 15 - 31).
