Bike for Books

Bike for Books is an all ages program that encourages energy-efficient travel by bicycle and rewards patrons with ice cream. Everybody wins!

Bike for Books is very simple.

Ride your bicycle to the Main Library or Fowler Branch Library - all ages encouraged!
Show your helmet to staff at the Children's Library Desk at the Main Library or at the Fowler Branch Desk, and we’ll keep track of your visits. After 10 visits with your helmet, you receive a Bedford Farms gift card!

This program grew out of an intent to inspire clean methods of transportation locally and a life-long love of exercise. The Town of Concord set a goal to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions - meaning largely emissions from gas-fueled cars and motorcycles - by 80% in 2050. This goal inspired the Concord Free Public Library Corporation to lead the development of a Sustainability Program specific to the Library, and from that, birthed a staff-led Green Team who work actively to encourage small but crucial steps within the community (and with staff!) through educational programs, a monthly newsletter, recycled craft supplies, and more!

This program is generously sponsored (and created!) by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.

Safe Routes to School

As a Safe Routes to School Alliance Partner, Concord Free Public Library works to promote alternatives to driving to school. We work with Bike to School Concord, the Concord school district, the Parent Teacher Associations, Concord Police Department, Department of Public Works, Mothers Out Front, and other environmental organization
