Pollinator Gardens at Fowler

In fall 2022, we joined the Concord Pollinator Health Advisory Committee, Natural Resources Division, Concord Land Conservation Trust, CCHS Green Team, and community members in a pilot program to add native seeds to our Seed Lending Library. We broke ground that September to add a pollinator garden in the Fowler backyard. In 2025, we received a grant from the Garden Club of Concord to plant a second pollinator garden in the front yard. We hope that you will visit our gardens, learn with us, and perhaps feel inspired to create your own pollinator gardens.

Library Plant Swap Program

Fowler Library has had an ongoing houseplant swap since March 2022! Bring your disease and pest-free plants or cuttings (rooted or unrooted) and choose from an ever-changing selection of pothos, spider plants, coleus, jade, and more. If you don't have any plants to trade, don't worry! To keep it stocked, library staff regularly propagate from library plants, take cuttings from their own houseplants, and borrow from friends and family.

Annual Seedling Giveaway

With support from the Friends of Concord Free Public Library, we have been giving out native tree seedlings annually to celebrate Arbor Day. In 2025, inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer's Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World, we gave out larger serviceberry plants (in gallon pots) and smaller bare-root trees. Stay tuned for our next giveaway, and join us in planting trees!
