Annual Book Sale June 2025
Frequently Asked Questions
• What are the sale hours?
- June 14, 2025, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. (Rain date: June 15.)
• May volunteers purchase books?
- Yes, after 10 AM in the course of their duties volunteers may set aside books. Books should NOT be set aside during set-up. Volunteers must pay for their books.
• How can I pay for books I purchase?
- Cash or check are preferred. Please make checks out to FCFPL. Three bank ATMs are located nearby (Cambridge Trust, Middlesex, and Bank of America). Those who cannot use cash or check can use PayPal/credit card with an additional convenience transaction fee to cover the additional cost.
• What are the prices?
- Price sheets are posted below the maps at all entrances and near the cashiers’ tables.
• Do you reduce prices?
- We do not reduce prices. This is a popular sale, and the books are carefully culled so they are in good condition. All proceeds of the sale benefit the library.
• Will you sell discounted bags of books?
- No.
• Do you offer discounts for large purchases?
- No. Expedited checkout is available for large purchases. Some volunteers assist dealers with their purchases.
• Why does this sale allow dealers?
- We want to sell as many books as possible to raise funds to help purchase materials for adults and children, special programs, museum passes, concerts, poetry readings, films, and author talks. The amount raised through sales to dealers covers the entire cost of the Music from the Library program.
• Where are children’s books? Art books? Cookbooks?
- Large copies of the map are posted at all entrances and near the benches on the lawn.
• What is the difference between a “trade” and “mass market” paperback?
- A mass market paperback is typically 4 ¼ x 7 ¼ inches. A trade paperback is of higher quality. If you are not sure, the book is probably a trade paperback. See signs with samples of each type posted near the paperback area.
• What media is sold at the sale?
- We sell CDs, DVDs, Audio books, and LPs.
• What books are in the Specials Book Shop?
- Unusual and better books, new and old, in most categories and current fiction and non-fiction.
• What do you do with books you do not sell?
- All books which are Specials, for adults and children, and books in a few other categories are kept for the Holiday Sale in December. Volunteers from our outreach partners select books at the end of the sale.
• When will there be another sale?
- December 5, 6 and 7, 2025.
• Where are the rest rooms?
- Enter the library, go straight, pass the circulation desk, turn left, and then turn right down the hall.
