Summer Memories - An Art Exhibition by Lucinda Hamilton

This July, the Munroe Gallery at the Main Library welcomes Summer Memories, a solo exhibition by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton. On view from July 6 through July 30, the exhibition celebrates the landscapes, places, and moments that shape our most cherished memories. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 11, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Inspired by the natural beauty of New England and the quiet joys of everyday life, Hamilton's paintings explore themes of nostalgia, family, and connection. Drawing from personal photographs of places that have defined her life—including her childhood neighborhoods in Pennsylvania, the coast of Maine, her home in Massachusetts, and summers spent in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona—her work captures the emotional resonance of memory and the comfort of familiar landscapes.
As Hamilton reflects on raising a young daughter while navigating the changes that accompany an aging family, painting has become a way to slow down, stay present, and celebrate the beauty in ordinary moments. Through Summer Memories, she invites viewers to reconnect with the places and experiences that continue to feel like home.
Hamilton's work has appeared in juried exhibitions throughout New England, including shows with the New England Watercolor Society, Newburyport Art Association, and Rockport Art Association, and is held in private collections across the country.
The reception is free and open to the public on July 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Learn more about the artist at lucindahamilton.com or follow her on Instagram @lucinda_paints.
