Be Well Be Here and the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library present Writing as an Act of Humanity with Yung Pueblo on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Goodwin Forum, Main Library. Be Present with author, poet, philosopher and mindful educator Diego Perez, known by 2.3 million Instagram followers as Yung Pueblo will discuss his brand new book, Lighter, as well as share mindful wisdom that inspires us all to seek ease, engage in Radical Honesty, cultivate caring relationships and show up for one another for the benefit of us all. Diego Perez is the poet and philosopher behind the pen name Yung Pueblo. The name Yung Pueblo means 'young people' and it serves to remind him of his Ecuadorian roots, his experiences in activism and that the collective of humanity is in the midst of important growth. Through writing and speaking he aims to support the healing of the individual, realizing that when we release our personal burdens, we contribute to a global peace. Lara Wilson, curator of the Concord Festival of Authors and founder of Be Well Be Here, devotes her life to exploring the intersection of personal narrative and mindful well-being. Her short stories have been published in The Kenyon Review, StoryQuarterly and American Fiction, among others, as well as anthologized in Printers Row. An essay about her breast cancer journey was published on WBUR's Cognoscenti. Lara was awarded a 2010 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship in Fiction, and scholarships from the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences. For many years, she taught master fiction workshops and served on the board at GrubStreet. A lifelong meditator, Lara established 501c3 non-profit Be Well Be Here, a mindful wellness educational collaborative whose mission is to build compassionate community through wellBeing practices.
