The Spanish Influenza Pandemic in Concord (September-November 1918)

In the Main Street Entrance Foyer Exhibit Case, on display in September and October 2018,  is The Spanish Influenza Pandemic in Concord (September-November 1918). The 1918 influenza pandemic, hastened by the dynamics of a world war, swept around the globe at alarming speed, leaving illness and death in its wake. Concord, in all its peaceful, small town charm, was not spared. Sporadic cases began to appear in late September; in October it had become a full blown health crisis, closing the schools for the entire month, and by mid-November was gone. The exhibit tells the story primarily through contemporaneous newspaper articles.
