Paving on Main Street Starts on August 12, 2024
From the Concord Public Works -
Please be advised that reconstruction of Main Street from Sudbury Road to Thoreau Street will commence on Monday August 12. This is the first of four sections to be completed with construction season. The reconstruction work will be conducted in two stages, pavement milling of the existing roadway surface and then paving two layers of hot mix asphalt to restore the surface. One way traffic will be maintained during the paving operation through the construction zone. During the morning commuting hours, inbound traffic, heading toward the down-town center will be maintained on Main Street, while outbound traffic will be detoured at Sudbury Road to Thoreau Street.
Following the morning commuting traffic rush hours, the traffic pattern will be switched, and outbound traffic will be maintained through Main Street, while inbound traffic will be detoured down Thoreau Street to Sudbury Road. Please refrain from parking within the on-street parking spaces during the construction. The paving contractor will be posting “no parking” signs indicating the restriction.
Heavy equipment will be present and operational. Access to all properties will be maintained throughout the construction process, however, please expect delays and altered traffic patterns near construction crews performing the work.
