Leslie Riedel Memorial Lecture for Young People: Kate DiCamillo
The annual Leslie Riedel Memorial Lecture for Young People will present children's author Kate DiCamillo on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library Rotunda. The talk will be followed by a reception and book-signing. Copies of her books will be available for purchase. The event is free and open to all. Registration is strongly recommended. The lecture series was created in memory of Leslie Riedel by her family and friends so that young people could meet some of their favorite authors. This year’s speaker Kate DiCamillo is an American writer of children's fiction for all reading levels, usually featuring animals. She is one of six people to win two Newbery Medals, recognizing her novels The Tale of Despereaux and Flora & Ulysses.
Past speakers of the series include children's authors/illustrators David Macaulay, Chris Van Allsburg, Jerry Pinkney, Lois Lowry, Tomie dePaola, Grace Lin and Katherine Paterson.
