Poetry at the Library: The Far North: Native Alaskan Joan Naviyuk Kane
Susan Eisenberg, poet, visual artist, oral historian, licensed electrician, and Resident Artist/Scholar at the Brandeis Women's Studies Research Center, reads from her fiercely lyrical Stanley's Girl, winner of a Must-Read distinction from the Massachusetts Center for the Book. Prize-winning poet Denise Bergman reads signature poems from across her work that look anew at the Statue of Liberty, Annie Sullivan, and the poet's own sexual assault 40 years ago from which she regained her selfhood in a series of incremental triumphs. A free event with book signings and light refreshments.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library. Open to all.
