Residency dates: January–June 2026
Concord’s literary heritage is an important part of the town’s history, and this residency gives a contemporary voice the chance to build upon that heritage and shape it for future generations. CFPL’s W-I-R Program is open to applications from all avenues of writing. The program seeks to celebrate and share diverse voices, and the chosen resident is tasked with designing and leading programs to bring their own viewpoint into the cultural forefront of the Concord community.
The W-I-R Program provides private office space (in a newly-renovated area of the building) in which the Resident can write, hold office hours, or attend to other activities within the scope of the residency. The entire library facility - as well as public locations throughout Concord and surrounding communities - are also available as you seek to connect with the community. During the 6-month program, the W-I-R will be expected to create an original piece of work as well as conduct writing programs and workshops for the Library community.
The residency will take place from January-June of 2026. A stipend of $10,000 will be offered with the expectation that the W-I-R will create a schedule that meets their own needs as well as those of the library, offering flexibility to create programming and social opportunities for the CFPL community as well as time to create while on site. The W-I-R committee and library staff will be available to assist the Resident with getting accustomed to the area and working on the logistical elements of event planning as well as brainstorming ideas and promotional opportunities.
