14. Town Expenses Related to the Burning of the Middlesex Hotel
Under “General Expenses,” the printed Concord town report for 1845-1846 listed three payments made by the Town of Concord for sustenance to firefighters who rushed to the burning Middlesex Hotel on June 10, 1845. M. & A. Holden received $3.00 for providing bread, F. Potter and C.B. Davis $2.50 and $4.00, respectively, for “refreshments.”
