How the town house was used

14. Records of Town Hall Use

A bound volume containing records of the use (1851-1923) of Concord's Town Hall - referring specifically to the large meeting room within the Town House - lists a variety of functions, from Bible society meetings to lyceum lectures to dances. The first entry in the book is for a temperance meeting arranged by Dr. Josiah Bartlett for November 12, 1851 - two days after the regulations for use of the Town House were adopted. The volume includes entries for more than eighty events in 1852 (the first full year during which the Town Hall could be reserved by Concord citizens).
