46. The Middlesex Site Today

Under municipal ownership since 1900, the Middlesex Hotel property is now a memorial park to honor Concord soldiers who died in World War II, the Korean War, and the conflicts in the Dominican Republic and Vietnam. A marker to World War II casualties was placed on the site in the late 1940s. In 1997, two separate markers for those lost in wars since World War II were erected and landscaping improvements made through a concerted community effort. The revamped memorial was dedicated on December 6, 1997.

These two photographs, both taken in August 2006, show the Middlesex Hotel site from the Wright Tavern corner (above) and from Monument Square (below). The image from Monument Square provides a close-up view of the former location of the hotel building.
