An 1893 Map from The Concord Directory and Guide

38. An 1893 Map from The Concord Directory and Guide

For many towns, printed directories provide information about residents and businesses at specific points in the past. The first commercially produced directories for Concord appeared in the 1880s. During the 1890s, several editions of The Concord Guide and Directory included folding maps, of which the 1893 map from which this detail comes is one example. Prepared by Albert Wood, the map shows the vacant Middlesex Hotel (unlabeled), still standing although long past use.
