36. The Library Transformed

This 1934 photograph shows Michael Mahoney, custodian of the Concord Free Public Library for more than forty years, approaching the recently-renovated building.

Although some Concordians missed the familiar Gothic features of the library, many preferred Harry Little’s classical style to one that seemed at the time more passé than historical.
