The new stack wing addition to the building, with book stacks and fittings, became ready for use in August, and the transfer and rearrangement of books therein were accomplished early in September. The classification and use of the books so made possible are described in the report of the Librarian.
The payments for the construction of the extension and its equipment to December 31, 1917, amounted to $21,190.40. This amount includes architects’ plans and specifications for the proposed future additions of reading room and art gallery wings described in our report for last year. It does not include the cost of a new heater, which has been installed to serve more effectively both the old building and the new stack wing.
