Concord Free Public Library Corporation

The year was marked by the opening of the new wing in December. Members of the Corporation, the Library Committee, and the Library staff were on hand at a reception for donors and friends of the Library. The consensus was that the new addition was an aesthetic and functional success. Not all the new levels are operational at this point due to slow deliveries of metal stacks, but everything should finally be in place by March, 1970.

The Trustees again wish to express their gratitude for the generous support of the people of Concord. We should also point out that in these days of high interest rates, promptness in making pledge payments represents a big savings for the Library. At this juncture, we are making plans to raise funds to replace the withdrawals we have had to make from our investment portfolio. With every thing intact, we look forward to a financial condition permitting us to carry on our usual functions and hopefully to lend financial support to new creative projects put forward by the Library staff or members of the Committee.

The Corporation wishes to thank the Library Committee and staff for their cooperation and good efforts in a messy transitional period. Things soon ought to be getting better.
