To all persons to whom these presents shall come the Town of Concord in the County of Middlesex sends greeting.
Whereas at a legal meeting of said Town held March 31, A.D.1873 the following votes were passed:
“That the Town will transfer to the Concord Free Public Library Corporation the Town Library and the funds held by the Town for its maintenance and increase upon the following terms and conditions, namely, that the corporation shall receive and hold the Library & all additions that may be made thereto upon the trust and contract that they shall be held for the use and benefit of all the citizens of the town; and that no regulation restricting their use and access to them by the people of the Town to a greater degree than has heretofore existed, shall be made without the consent of the Library Committee elected by the Town.”
“That the Library Committee be authorized to transfer the Library to said corporation whenever said Corporation shall have a building ready to receive it and shall have voted to accept the transfer and trust upon the foregoing terms.” and
Whereas said corporation now have a building ready to receive said Library and have voted to accept said transfer and trust upon the foregoing terms.
Now therefore, know ye the said Town of Concord doth hereby transfer and convey its Town Library to the Concord Free Public Library Corporation. To have and to hold to the said Corporation forever upon the terms hereinbefore set forth.
