21. An Address by William Whiting, 1864

Boston lawyer William Whiting (1813-1873) was born and grew up in Concord, where he studied at the old Concord Academy. He graduated from Harvard in 1833, then taught school in Plymouth and Concord. Whiting graduated from Harvard Law School in 1838. In 1862, he became solicitor for the United States War Department. In November of 1864, he delivered an address in Concord's Town Hall on the national political and military situation.
