Australian Artist Makes

 U.S. Debut at Concord

Australian Photographic Artist Peter Garnick is making his American debut this month with “Constructive Ragpickings”, an exhibition of thirteen large-scale artworks.

Peter’s surprising and striking imagery is drawn from the evolving structures at a major Melbourne building site. The absence of any visual clues to indicate size or scale causes his work to hover over the boundary between the familiar and the foreign.  One image represents reality magnified 5-fold; another captures a watery vista the size of a city block.

Peter’s work was discovered by Concord artist Joan Hilton on her trip last year to Australia.  “I had heard about Peter’s work and was curious to see it.  Fortunately his latest Melbourne show coincided with my visit.  I was intrigued by his imagery and asked to submit it to the Concord Jury.  I’m pleased that they shared my enthusiasm.”

The American premiere of “Constructive Ragpickings” is presented in collaboration with Blacksphere Fine Art in Melbourne, Australia.

The exhibition “Constructive Ragpickings” can be viewed from January 6–30 at the Art Gallery of the Concord Free Public Library, 129 Main Street, Concord.  For information call (978) 318-3300.
