Robbins-Mills Collection of Herbert Wendell Gleason Photographic Negatives, 1899-1937 Concord Free Public Library Special Collections |
Series IX (14 glass, 18 film) is organized into five subseries. All subseries are arranged by date. Montana images include the town of Livingston; mountains; and western plants. Colorado consists of two animal shots taken at Estes Park: face view of a rabbit, and a red-wing blackbird perched on a post. Both images were included in Thoreau illustrations. Gleason photographed several scenes at the house of his brother (Sumner Gleason) in Kaysville. (Sumner Gleason was a physician and self-taught dentist.) Other images of Utah include: Coal Creek Canyon, Devil's Gate in Weber Canyon, and Peruvian Buttes near Fredonia. Arizona images include: vermilion and white cliffs, a dust whirl in the desert, and a copy of a map showing the Four Corners region (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado). Gleason photographed his brother-in-law's family-Fred M. Rounds with his wife and dog at their home in Dallas, Texas.
