Committee appointed to arrange public celebration in Concord, Mass., of third centennial of town’s incorporation, Sept. 12-14, 1935.  (Provisional Tercentennial Celebration Committee formed earlier to begin the planning process.)  Officers of Concord Tercentenary Committee: Chairman, H. Whittemore Brown; Vice Chairman, Ruth R. Wheeler and Edward F. Loughlin; Secretary, Elizabeth F. Brennan; Treasurer, Roger K. Allen.  Subcommittees: Executive; Ball; Dedication of Town Forest; Hospitality; Literary Exercises; Pageant; Parade; Publicity;  Sports.  Related committees: Committee on the Simon Willard Memorial; Hapgood Wright Town Forest Committee; Committee on Restoration of Hapgood Wright Portraits.  Dedication of Hapgood Wright Town Forest formed part of tercentenary celebration.  1935 printed municipal report contains reports of Concord Tercentenary Committee and related committees.

Scope and Content: Records (1934-1935) include manuscript, typed, carbon copied, mimeographed, and printed materials of the following types: correspondence; lists of committee and subcommittee members; schedules of events; application for tickets; form letter to Concord residents; summary accounts of costs; receipted invoice; IRS “Certificate of Exemption from Collection of Federal Tax on Admissions” for pageant and ball; agendas for meetings; part of Allen French’s pageant; The Drama of Concord; parade route and roster; contest entry bank; map of Fairyland (earlier name of Hapgood Wright Town Forest area); list of possibilities for spending Hapgood Wright Town Fund; TLS, Raymond Emerson to H. Whittemore Brown, 1935 Feb. 8, concerning sale of Fairyland to Town of Concord by Forbes heirs.
