Ink and red pencil on paper. From the Amos Bronson Alcott Papers (part of the CFPL Vault Collection). Gift of Edith Davidson Harris, 1944. Bronson Alcott was Emerson’s close friend for more than forty-five years. Emerson admired Alcott from their first acquaintance and was always moved by the man’s irrepressible idealism. He also subsidized the Alcott family enterprise a number of times. Alcott, in turn, idolized Emerson. Next Image Previous Image Special Collections Home
