RWE

Added photograph in Vol. 10, Pt. 2 of William Taylor Newton’s extra-illustrated copy of the large paper edition of Emerson’s Complete Works (Cambridge: Riverside Press, 1883-1893).  Newton’s set of Emerson’s works is from the Newton/Emerson Collection (part of the CFPL Concord Authors Collection).  Gift of Edith Emerson Forbes and Edward Waldo Emerson, 1918.

One of many photographs added by William Taylor Newton in extra-illustrating his copy of Emerson’s Complete Works.  Such interpolations transform a volume or set of which multiple copies have been printed into a unique resource.
