Can my child get a library card?
Children can obtain a Minuteman library card as soon as they are able to write their name on the library card application. The child's parent or legal guardian must be present with the child, provide a valid ID, and sign the form.
Should my child get a library card?
The Concord Free Public Library maintains confidentiality in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws (Chapter 78, Section 7) and the ALA Code of Ethics and Library Bill of Rights. Based on these standards, if you choose to open an account for your child, library staff cannot share information with parents/legal guardians regarding borrowed material on a minor’s card or make any changes to the account without permission from your child. You may choose to list your own contact information and establish the online account pin/password together to more accurately track what is out on the card.
