Annie Keyes Emerson and son Charles Lowell Emerson, ca. 18782. A. Marshall (Boston).  Annie Keyes Emerson and daughter Ellen Tucker Emerson , 1880.  From a carte de visite (source undiscovered).

Born in 1847, Concord girl Annie Shepard Keyes married Edward Waldo Emerson in 1874. Annie was a daughter of influential lawyer, public official, and judge John Shepard Keyes (see #38) and his wife Martha Lawrence Prescott Keyes (see #20). Edward, a physician and artist, was the son of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Concord's philosopher, essayist, lecturer, poet, and best-known 19th century resident.

Edward and Annie Keyes Emerson had seven children, six of whom predeceased their parents. Annie is shown in this photograph with her fourth baby, Ellen. By the time this picture was taken, Annie had already lost her first three children.

In 1920, at the age of forty, Ellen Tucker Emerson married Charles Milton Davenport.
